Showers expected over Labor Day weekend but sunny, dry for holiday

Cooler conditions are expected with temperatures slightly below normal over the next few days.

A weak cold front will return clouds and a chance of precipitation this afternoon into Sunday, but it will be sunny and dry for the Labor Day holiday, the National Weather Service in Wilmington said.

The high temperature will be near 80 degrees today. Clouds will build throughout the day for mostly cloudy skies by sunset. This will be accompanied by an increasing chance of showers, mainly after 5 p.m. Rain chances will continue this evening and through the night as temperatures overnight fall to around 65 degrees.

There will be a chance of showers Sunday, which will be mostly cloudy with a high near 80 degrees. Skies will be partly cloudy Sunday night with an overnight low temperature around 58 degrees.

Labor Day will be sunny, dry and warmer with a high near 81 degrees. Skies will stay clear Monday night, with an overnight low around 58 degrees.
